I would like to introduce myself: My name is Frans Klomberg, I am 58 years young and I work in the Customer Contact Service Department at the ING/Postbank in Amsterdam. I have been married to Anja for 33 years and we have two lovely daughters, Sabine and Ramona. And..we are grandparents of Duncan Bryan

My hobby’s are BOWLING, GENEALOGY and participating in the NIJMEGEN FOUR-DAY-WALK each year. For more than 20 years now I have been playing competition bowling with the Bowling Club Arnhem. Not only do I play in the club competition, but I also play quite frequently in the national competition; I also play regularly in tournaments throughout the Netherlands. The high point of my bowling career so far was Sunday the 19th of January 2005; I won the Arnhem Championship !!! See the picture: Arnhem Championship. In the Fotogalerij (Photo Gallery) you can read more about this (dutch). Another bowling high point was a very special achievement on the 19th of February 2001; A game score of 298 !!! For those people who may not know so much about bowling, the maximum score you can get in a single game is 300, which means you have to throw 12 strikes (knock down all 10 pins with one ball) in a row. Unfortunately I made a slight mistake with my very last ball, probably due to nerves, so I didn’t quite achieve the 300 perfect score. Another hobby is Genealogy; in other words, researching family trees. For a few years now I have been researching my family tree, both ancestors and descendants, and both within the Netherlands and abroad. In the beginning I managed to gather a lot of information quite quickly, but the further you go back in time the more difficult it becomes. A well known genealogist once told me; “In the first year of research you will probably find about 90% of what you’re looking for. In the next 90 years you will be lucky to find another 1%.” On the other hand, I have been more fortunate than many other genealogists, as the name ‘Klomberg’ is so unique that when I come across someone with the same name, it is guaranteed to be a family member. I haven’t finished my research by a long chalk, and I will carry on for as long as it takes to find and document my family past and present. And what can I say about the Nijmegen four-day-walk? When you try to explain to someone who has never heard of it, that it is a walk through the beautiful Dutch landscape, along with thousands of other people, in all weather conditions, and it takes four days to complete, most peoples reaction would be; “But why?” The only answer I can give is; “I can’t explain. You just have to try it and then maybe you will find out why I and several thousand others enjoy it so much.” Maybe you will get a better impression if you look in the Fotogalerij (Photo Gallery) at the pictures and video's.
